Orson "Oscar" D. Duncan 1865-1958

Orson D. Duncan was born 27 Nov 1865 in Jefferson County, Madison Twp., Indiana. He was the son of David S. Duncan and Susanna Dunham. Orson's parents moved to Madisonville, Ohio near Cincinnati about 1866 or 1867since that was where his sister Sarah was born about 1867. Some time between 1900 and 1910 Orson changed his name to Oscar. He married Anna Elisabeth Walters on 4 May 1886. Anna was the daughter of Isaac Walters and Christina Elisabeth Gordon. Oscar and Anna lived their entire lives in the Cincinnati, Ohio vicinity. Oscar was a stone mason contractor by trade. Oscar and Anna had 4 children, Wilber 1888-1964, Mabel Julia 1890-1970, Edward John 1893-1961 and Addie Marie 1896-1987. Oscar's wife Anna Elisabeth Walters died in Sep 1956 in Cincinnati. After the death of his wife, Oscar's health was failing so he went to live with his daughter Mabel Julia and her husband Herbert B. Kohus Sr. in Mt. Repose, near Milford, Ohio which is about 25 miles east of Cincinnati. When I was a child I remember going to see him at their house and playing Chinese Checkers. I was about 9 years old at the time and remember how we both loved the game. My memories of him are faded by years but I do remember him as a kindly old gentleman who I enjoyed being around. Oscar Duncan died on 25 Feb 1958 in Milford, Ohio.
