Loretta Kohus *1903-1962
Loretta Kohus was the daughter of John William Kohus and Mary Schaefer. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1902. Loretta's father was the owner of John Kohus' Cafe. He died in 1917 when Loretta was only 15 years old and her mother Mary had to go to work to support their family. In 1921 Loretta married John W. Gaffney, the son of John Gaffney and Mary Farrell from Ireland. Loretta and John had a son about 1922 named Donald W. Gaffney. Loretta's husband John, a truck driver for the Kroger Grocery Company, died unexpectedly in his sleep on 4 Sep 1942. Loretta next married Fred F. Helmig. Loretta Kohus died 6 Sep 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in Cincinnati. Her husband Fred Helmig died 5 Jul 1977.
