
Julia E. (Elbrey) Kohus 1860 -1945
Julia E. Elbrey was born 23 June 1860 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, the daughter of John and Mary Elbrey. Her father was a German immigrant from Hanover and mother born in Ohio. She had at least 3 siblings, Mary, Elisabeth and Amelia. Julia Elbrey married Louis Kohus 1858-1907 on 4 May 1879 in Cincinnati. Louis and Julia had 4 children, John William, Veronica, Herbert Bernard and Alma Kohus. Julia and Louis lost one child Veronica at 3 years of age. Her husband Louis died in 1907.Julia and Louis ran a boarding house in Addyston, Ohio just a few miles west of Cincinnati. She lost her adult son John William in 1917 who died from tuberculosis. Some time after the death of her husband Louis, Julia went to live with her daughter Alma. Alma (Kohus) Buckley lost her first husband Pete Buckley in an accident. Pete was a Cincinnati Fireman who was killed in 1920 when a wall fell on him while fighting a fire. Her daughter next married Clearance H. Dreyfus and the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. That is where Julia E. (Elbrey) Kohus died on 16 Aug 1945.
