Julia Alma Kohus was born on 1 Jan 1905, the daughter of Herbert Bernard Kohus and his first wife Lizzie LaFever. Herbert married Lizzie LaFever on 7 Sep 1903. There marriage date was on Lizzie's 16th birthday. Lizzie died the day Julia was born. Herbert was very young without the means to care for Julia so he left her with her LaFever grandparents. When Julia's father next married Mabel Julia Duncan on 15 Apr 1907 he went to the the house of his mother and farher-in-law6, Andrew and Julia LaFever in Indiana to take Julia Alma back to live with him. Julia was about 3 years old at the time. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Julia first married Fred Baker and had a child M. Ruth Baker. Her second husband was Claud Earl Slayback who she married in 1921. They had 6 children, Judy Ann, Almeda Mamie, Nattie Mae, Claud Earl, James Edward and Mary Lou Slayback.
