The following are pages obtained from papers on file in the National Archives for pension claim S.3054 based upon the service of Michael (Brauss) Brouse 1755-1854 in the American Revolutionary War. Michael Brouse was born April 5, 1755 in Lancaster Pennsylvania. While residing in Lancaster County he served as a private in the Pennsylvania troops as follows: In the fall of 1775-1776, two months in Captain Morgan's Company, Colonel Grubb's Regiment; about three years later, two months in Captain Custard's or Cushtard's company, guarding stores and prisoners in Lancaster; towards the close of the war, two months in Captain Slater's company, Colonel Peter Grubb's regiment in pursuit of Indians.
He continued to live in Lancaster County for eight or ten years after the revolution, then moved to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He lived there five or six years then moved to Chambersburgh, Pennsylvania where he lived for about nine years then moving to Columbiana County, Ohio. He was in Columbiana about about two years and moved to Stark County, Ohio for about five or six years then moved to Wayne County, Ohio. The soldier Michael Brouse was allowed pension on his application executed June 25, 1833, then living in Wayne County. He was living with his son in Liberty Township, Montgomery County in 1839. Michael Brouse was pensioned, certificate #22497 issued November 12, 1833. His rate of pay was $20. per annum.
