Back

Johann Hermann Kohues aka John Kohus emigrated from Ostbevern, Prussia, to Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1850. He was later followed by two of his brothers, Hermann Heinrich Kohues (aka Herman Kohus) in 1852 and Joan Heinrich Kohues (aka Henry Kohus) in 1865. These brothers lived the remainder of their lives in Cincinnati along with their wives and many of their children. Descendents of these three brothers and their wives are still found living in the area today. The Cincinnati City Directories,  located in the Cincinnati Public Library, provide many interesting facts including dates, names, occupations, business names, home and business addresses. Some of the names are misspelled as is common in many older records.
