Louis Kohus 1858-1907
The son of John Hermann and Veronica (Determann) Kohus. Louis lost his father while he was in his teens, just like his father before him. Maybe this is the reason he never became a tailor himself although he gave it a try for short while after his father's death, Most of Louis' life was spent working as a wall paper hanger, traveling salesman, or boarding house operator. Later in life he and wife Julia Elbrey moved from Cincinnati a few miles to the west of town to Addyston Ohio, a town also along the Ohio River. There they ran a boarding house. Judging by census records, it was not a large establishment and seemed to house no more than 4 or 5 boarders, plus their family. Louis may have had other gainful pursuits simultaneously. Around 1905 or 1906 they moved back to Cincinnati and Louis became the proprietor of the Walnut Hills Billiard and Pool Parlor until his death in 1907. He is buried in his father John Herman's family plot at St. John Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio
